Cooking the bacon sheets

  • Heat a non-stick frying pan on medium heat. Brush liberally with vegetable oil.
  • Pour the batters in alternating stripes until the pan is covered in a thin layer of batter. Shake and tilt the pan to evenly distribute the batter.
  • When the surface looks dry ~2-3 minutes, use a silicone spatula to loosen the edges. Quickly flip the pancake over to cook the other side ~1 minute.
  • Transfer the cooked sheet to a plate to cool and repeat with the remaining batter.

Frying the bacon

  • Heat a non-stick frying pan on medium-high heat. Add 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • Add the bacon strips one at a time to the hot oil. Fry gently on both sides until crisp. Drain on paper towel and serve.

Notes

  • A thinner pancake yields a crisper bacon.

  1. I was wondering if you could use regular flour or add some gluten to this recipe to make a denser chewier “bacon”? Results looking to acquire: thicker “slices” and not so crunchy/crisp.
